15 million sales, a collaboration teaser, and auto-paint reports

Checked July 11, 2026: the developer’s official Steam post announced 15 million sales and teased a collaboration with a famous Japanese star. Separate community clips and media reports show an auto-paint cheat copying background detail onto Hider models.

The sales milestone and collaboration teaser are official. The auto-paint issue is reported evidence, and no official anti-cheat fix note was found in the sources reviewed for the new guide.

Earlier changes that still affect the match

The fast rule is simple: if a friend lobby fails after a patch, update first. If your hiding advice comes from launch week, check whether shadows, Backrooms, FOV, or Workshop behavior changed since then.

Role impact

What changed by role

Hider changes

Hiders should watch v1.0.2, v1.1.0, and v1.2.0 closely. v1.0.2 tightened detection for Survivors buried under objects. v1.1.0 brightened shadows across stages, making dark-corner hiding less dependable. v1.2.0 added two poses and removed Backrooms wall-stuck hiding from current advice.

Hunter / Seeker changes

Hunters received FOV 100 in v1.1.0 and line-of-sight ranking in v1.2.0. For later HUD, comfort, or ranking changes, check the official all-news feed before relying on older clips or unverified version labels.

For role practice after reading the MECCHA CHAMELEON update history, use the Hider guide and Seeker guide. They explain how paint errors, pose mistakes, and wider FOV affect real hiding and hunting decisions.

Multiplayer

Server, Matchmaking, and Workshop Changes

Many MECCHA CHAMELEON update history entries are not flashy content updates, but they matter when you cannot join a room. v1.0.2 changed private server search so private servers could appear even when region did not match. v1.0.3 improved tags in search results. v1.1.0 fixed server connection, hidden in-progress public servers from search, corrected player count display, and improved the matching UI.

Workshop players should also read the update history before hosting custom maps. v1.1.0 disabled the default skylight when custom maps are used, which can change map lighting. v1.2.0 improved mod integration so a server does not need to be recreated after a mod change. For more detail, open the Workshop guide. If the room still fails, continue into the friend lobby fix.

Fast connection check: when a friend lobby fails after a patch, restart Steam, update MECCHA CHAMELEON, compare title-screen versions, then try the lobby again.
